About the Accommodation

Neighbourhood

We are situated in the lush East Devon countryside, but are well connected with shops in Cullompton 15 minutes drive away and Honiton 20 minutes.

There is a beautiful circular walk (6 miles) which goes across our farm and neighbouring fields and through two typical English country villages, Clyst Hydon and Plymtree. The walk was listed as one of Devon's best.

The nearest shop and pub are in the very pretty village of Plymtree, a mere 15 minute walk on foot from The Deer Den across open countryside. The Blacksmiths Arms pub there has been listed as one of the world's top restaurants. There is also a shop there run by local volunteers which has a range of everyday staples.

At the farm we sell our own honey and we also have beeswax candles available. There is an honesty shop for honey outside the Deer Den near a gatepost and candles are available to order.

We are lucky to be near two National Trust properties (Killerton, 15 minutes away by car) and Knightshayes (25 minutes by car), in addition to within half an hour of several gorgeous Devonshire beaches (Exmouth, Sidmouth, Beer, Lyme Regis and Seaton).

There are also several attractions nearby such as a 600 acre public wood at Ashclyst Forest (10 minute drive away), as well as Wildwood Devon at Escot (5 minute drive away), The Bear Trail (10 minute drive) and Exeter city and Taunton town.

Transport

There are many spectacular walks and cycle rides possible from on the doorstep. You can also drive to several lovely places within half an hour.

The nearest station is Feniton (10 minute drive away) and the nearest mainline station is Tiverton Parkway (20 minute drive), with fast trains all over the UK, including to Bristol and London regularly.
